I’m listening to the evensong of two cock blackbirds. Each trying to replicate the others call. A gorgeous sonic battle in which there will be no winner but the listener.
This, on day when the grey storm clouds have circled but haven’t hovered overhead. A day when I chanced on a local landowner with ‘a bit of a rabbit problem’ who invited me to pay a visit. A day when I was asked to finish my furlough and return to work next month. A day when the grass seed planted just a week ago burst above the bird netting. A day when the fire-lily blessed me with a glowing first flower. A day that has finished with a hint of red reflecting under the the scudding western cloud bank.
Today has been another wonderful day. I hope yours was too.
